Comparison

Chorsee vs Chorez

These two belong in the same conversation, which is more than can be said for the card apps. Both are chore boards for families, neither issues a debit card, and neither asks you to link a bank account. The difference is narrow and it's the whole thing: what happens the moment you approve.

We're not going to characterize their feature list

Comparison pages that confidently describe a competitor's app usually get it wrong, go stale within a release, and read as marketing rather than help. Chorsee is actively developed and its feature set is theirs to describe. Go look at their current App Store listing.

What we can be precise about is our own design decision, and the question worth asking about any chore app in this category.

The question to ask

When you approve a completed chore, does anything happen to the money?

In most card-free chore apps, approval updates a ledger. The child's balance goes up, the chore goes green, and the actual payment is left as a thing you're supposed to remember on Sunday. That's not a bug in those apps — it's the honest consequence of not being a payment company. But it's also the exact place the habit dies in real households.

Chorez takes the other path. Approval opens Venmo, Cash App, or PayPal with the amount and the recipient already filled in, and you hit send. Chorez never processes, holds, or transfers money — it just removes the twenty seconds and the act of remembering that stand between "good job" and the kid actually being paid.

If you'd rather batch it, "settle later" keeps a running balance and pays out the total in one prefilled tap on allowance day. Both paths, honestly labelled.

Where each one probably fits

A tracking-first app

Good fit if your household's problem is visibility — who's done what, who's slacking, what the week looked like — and payment is either cash-in-hand or not really the point.

Chorez

Good fit if the chores get done but the paying keeps slipping, and you already use Venmo, Cash App, or PayPal for everything else in your life.
